SAN LUIS – Duane Lopez, 63, was found deceased April 14 near Wild Horse Mesa. Costilla County residents reported the body, and Costilla County Undersheriff Ricky Rodriguez said the family asked to have the report withheld until all family members were notified.

A thorough investigation was conducted by Costilla County Deputies and the Costilla County Coroner, which determined that there was no foul play involved.

Lopez was about five miles from where he was last seen walking along Colo. Highway 149 on March 19 and the subsequent search reached into the New Mexico casino area. Lopez suffered from Parkinson’s Disease with disorientation and memory issues.
