MONTE VISTA — The body of missing rafter, Zack Jones, 33, of Creede has been found.

According to authorities, Jones was located near the Rio Grande just north of Monte Vista. Jones went missing on June 27, just south of Creede.

He had been rafting with two other individuals when their raft capsized. It was the first day that the river had been opened to recreation. Following the incident, the others were recovered but Jones was not found. The recovery of Jones’ body concludes an extensive search that spanned over a month that included both Mineral and Rio Grande Counties.
