Bookstore holds author events

ALAMOSA — With less than three weeks to go until the official grand opening of the Narrow Gauge Book Co-op, the owners, members and volunteers have planned several free events leading up to the official opening on Aug. 11 to keep book lovers entertained.

The first event, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, will bring together seven local authors to read from their books. The public is invited to hear authors Kathy Park, Margaret Lamb, Carole Counihan, Jim Taggart, Peggy Godfrey, Norah Tunney and Patricia Eagle read from their books, ranging from compelling memoirs to stirring poetry to insightful experiences.

The second event is an author event featuring Anita Amstutz, which will take place starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. Her book, “Soul Tending, Journey into the Heart of Sabbath,” is a spiritual autobiography of her struggles with work and life balance, and how she found the Sabbath rhythm and recover the Sabbath mind.

All events will take place at the Narrow Gauge Book Co-op, located at 602 Main Street in Alamosa. For the latest upcoming events, go to Narrow Gauge Book Coop on Facebooks. For more information on volunteering or becoming a member, go to narrowgaugebooks.com or call 589-3464 and ask for Marlena.
