Brother of fallen climber thanks AVSAR

Michael Cipoletti is shown on stage with Sheriff Jackson, Undersheriff Shawn Woods, AVSAR President Crystal Wilson and AVSAR team member Stephine Cline.

ALAMOSA– A heartfelt speech by the brother of Joy Cipoletti who died last October after summiting Ellingwood Point highlighted the annual “Suds4SAR” block party fundraiser for Alamosa Volunteer Search and Rescue (AVSAR).

Michael Cipoletti thanked AVSAR for their efforts in searching for and recovering his sister’s body over the course of five days. Ellingwood is one of three “14ers” in Alamosa County’s rugged Sangre de Cristo terrain.

Hundreds of supporters attended the event Saturday on San Juan Avenue enjoying live music from Bent Ears, Blue Sky, and Ol’ Scratch. The event raised funds and awareness for the mission of AVSAR; an all-volunteer first responder agency that works under the direction of the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office.

AVSAR would like to thank all of the business, community partners, musicians, and those who attended Suds4SAR for making the annual event a huge success.”
