Brush fire ignites in spite of wet conditions

While Alamosa and the rest of the San Luis Valley have experienced near record moisture this winter, a brush fire of undetermined origin broke out around 2 p.m. Tuesday on city property just east of the San Luis Valley Regional Airport. Four trucks and around a dozen firefighters from the Alamosa Fire Department and Colorado Department of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) responded and had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. Firefighters on scene remind residents that certain combustible plants can dry out quickly and be susceptible to fire.
