Byron “Bubba” Duran, 26

San Antonio resident Byron “Bubba” Duran, 26, passed away September 1, 2018 in Antonito. Bubba was welcomed into the world on August 4, 1992 in Alamosa, Colorado, the son of Rossi D. Duran and Lorrie Garcia. Bubba was a heavy equipment operator and worked on his grandparent’s farm. He was an exceptional and loving son, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, basketball player and would often be referred to as the local ESPN analyst because of his knowledge in the sports field. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Duran of Antonito, CO; mother Lorrie Garcia of Antonito, CO; his beloved companion Kim Olivas of Antonito, CO; newborn daughter Paige Byram Duran of Antonito, CO; step-daughter Kimberly Sisneros of Antonito, CO; sister Bianca Duran of Antonito, CO; brothers Fernandez (Megan) Garcia and Ronnie Garcia both of Antonito, CO; paternal grandparents Ross and Wilma Duran of San Antonio, CO; maternal grandparents Henry and Josie Cordova of Albuquerque, NM; Aunt Sheryl (Alfred) Duran of Alamosa, CO; Uncle Jeremiah (Roxanne) Duran of Pueblo, CO; Aunt Denise (Ricky) George of Antonito, CO; Aunt Josette Cordova of Pueblo, CO; Uncle Patrick Garcia Jr., of Alamosa and Aunt Sabrina Fresquez of Denver, CO; cousins Joaquin Duran of Alamosa, CO; Johnathan George of Antonito, CO; Antonio George of Denver, CO; Brianna Garcia of Denver, CO; Christopher Garcia, Veronica De’Amico both of Pueblo, CO; close friends Ryan Martinez of Alamosa and Brandon Sisneros of Denver, CO. Byron is also survived by numerous friends.

Bubba was preceded in death by his sister Krystal Duran and grandfather Patricio Garcia Sr.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Las Mesitas Cemetery in Las Mesitas, CO.
