Callie Ann Jarvies Hartmann

June 27, 1949 — March 19, 2023

Ann passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 73 on March 19, 2023. Ann was born on June 27, 1949, in Alamosa, Colo., to Fred and Callie Mortensen. On July 28, Ann married Bruce G. Jarvies in the Mesa, Ariz., Temple. Ann and Bruce were married for 47 years and together raised 10 children.

Bruce and Ann owned and managed Donald’s Service for many years, employing all 10 of their children and several of their grandchildren throughout the years. Ann spent much of her time running back and forth between home and Donald’s Service.

Most school days, a trail of Ann’s grandchildren could be seen running down the sidewalk to her house, where she would fix them lunch each day. At least once a week, she served her famous cinnamon rolls and homemade pizza, an all-time favorite. Ann loved to play with her grandkids, you could often find her on the floor playing games or outside running the bases with them in a game of kickball.

Ann was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held a number of callings and built many life-long friendships with women in the Manassa Wards and community. Ann had a natural ability to care for others and made people feel loved. Among the community, Ann was well-known for her breakfast burritos and biscuits served at Donald’s Service. She was also known as Ann Vila (in reference to the home DIY expert, Bob Vila) for the many projects that she took on at home and at Donald’s.

She also made life-long friends after remarrying and moving back to Alamosa, Colo.

She is survived by her husband Ron Hartmann of Alamosa, Colo., his son Michael Hartmann and two grandsons; her children Kirk (Shannon) Jarvies of Manassa, Colo., Clinton Jarvies of Antonito, Colo., Mitchell (Kristi) Jarvies of Manassa, Colo., Natalie (Jim) Paine of Antonito, Colo., Callie (Dave) Jensen of Draper, Utah, Rachel (Glenn) Barr of Antonito, Colo., Jessie Bagwell (Coy) Mortensen of Manassa, Colo., Andrew (Amber) Jarvies of Manassa, Colo., April (Adam) Robins of Antonito, Colo., and daughter-in-law Ashley Jarvies of Manassa, Colo. She is survived by 54 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, her son Donald, and her son-in-law, Tanner Bagwell.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, at the Manassa Stake Center.
