Longtime La Jara resident Camilla "Millie" Rodriguez, lived until she was 102 years old. Sadly she departed this life September 9, 2022 while she was sleeping peacefully in her bed with her loving family by her side. Millie was born on May 4, 1920 in Nambe, New Mexico, the beloved daughter of Fermin Lujan and Estephanita (DeHerrera) Lujan. Millie worked as a nurse aide for many years, she was always one who loved to help others. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. When she had free time, she enjoyed crocheting, talking to her friends on the phone and taking care of her grandchildren. Millie lived a wonderful life, she lived through and saw so many things that so many of will never get a chance to. She was so loved and will be so dearly missed.
Survivors include her daughters Pearl Garcia, Loretta (Edward) Archuleta both of La Jara, Colo.; Diane (Eugene) Velasquez of Peralta, NM; Lori Gallegos of Houston, Texas; sons Anthony (Laura) Rodriguez of Belen, New Mexico; Rick (Maxine) Rodriguez of La Jara, Colo.; 30 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her siblings to be reunited with one another. She is also survived by numerous other extended family members and friends.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Rodriguez, sons Ernie, Albert, Modesto and Bobby Rodriguez, daughter Debra Vigil, two grandsons Derrick and Damien Velasquez.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 10 a.m.. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date.
