Canuto Felipe Cordova, 71

La Jara resident Canuto Felipe Cordova, 71, passed away August 17, 2017 at the Conejos County Hospital with his loving family by his side. Canuto was welcomed into the world on August 28, 1945, the beloved son of Manuel Cordova and Albertina Sandoval Cordova. Canuto worked as a rancher for a large part of his life. He loved watching western movies, going horseback riding, sheering sheep and being a cowboy. He was a history buff and had a passion for learning new things.  His greatest joy in life came from the time he spent with his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter Patricia “Annette” (Allan) Turner of Pueblo West, CO; sons Brian Cordova of Albuquerque, NM; Anthony (Cassidy) Cordova of Belen, NM; grandchildren Kendra Cordova, Mikayla Cordova, Josh Cordova, Shauncey Cordova, Shaylee Cordova, Kynlee Cordova, Cheyenne Cordova, siblings Wilma (Jose) Garcia of Downey, CA; Dennis (Lucy) Cordova of Manassa, CO; Marlene Gomez of Alamosa, CO; Mary Ann Formhal of Manassa, CO; Yvonne (Bud) McDaniel of Rio Rancho, NM; Isabel (Kurt) Zimmeth of Dallas, TX; Steve (Kathy) Cordova of Manassa, CO; sister-in-law Sandra Cordova of Manassa, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Canuto was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Albertina Cordova, daughter Susie Marie Cordova, sister Valarie Leask, brother Ernie Cordova, brothers-in-law Richard Gomez and Dave Leask.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Conejos. Interment will follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
