Car, house collision injures one

ALAMOSA — Clark street in Alamosa experienced a rare occurrence on Thursday night when a 2001 GMC Yukon went off the road and collided with a house.

The residents at 2020 Clark Street were not home when the Yukon driven by Alison Martin, 25, of Alamosa was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed down the residential road. Martin’s Yukon went off the road and collided with the house. The Alamosa police were dispatched to the scene at 8:30 p.m. where they made contact with the driver. Martin was taken to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for treatment and as of press time was in serious but stable condition.

According to the Alamosa Police Department, drugs were a contributing factor in Thursday’s incident and Martin will be facing charges of driving under the influence – drugs, careless driving, driving without a seatbelt, driving under revocation and compulsory insurance penalty.

Both the house and vehicle sustained extensive damage.
