Carl J. Wenta

Carl J. Wenta, 68, of Del Norte, Colo., passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024. Born on Feb. 6, 1956, in Fowler, Kan., to Leo and Betty Wenta. Carl was known for his generous spirit, kind heart, and thoughtful nature. He brought joy and laughter to all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Carl grew up in Fowler, where his love for the great outdoors and sports began. His youth was filled with adventure and the close-knit warmth of his family. He was the cherished brother of Barb Beckerman of Fowler, Kan., Deb (Sam) Boese of Fowler, Kan., and Don (Tonya) Wenta of Monte Vista, Colo. Carl's life was further enriched by the love and laughter of numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends whose lives he touched with his amiable nature.

Professionally, Carl’s hands and sharp mind to build mobile offices. Later, he found his calling in Colorado, working for Bob Metz. As a handyman and construction worker, Carl was known for his craftsmanship, reliability, and the readiness with which he approached every project. Colleagues and clients alike respected him for his work ethic and the camaraderie he fostered on every job site.

Carl's passions extended beyond his work. He was an ardent sports fan, with a particular affinity for the Kansas City Chiefs, and KU Jayhawks. His enthusiasm for his teams was infectious, and many fond memories were made cheering alongside him during games. However, perhaps his greatest passion was for horses. Riding his beloved horse, Babe, through the mountains was more than a hobby; it was a return to nature, and a cherished time spent with his brothers.

His friendly personality was legendary; Carl never met a stranger. He had an innate ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went. Whether it was a kind word, a helping hand, or just a listening ear, Carl was always there for those in need. His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his community and loved ones.

Carl's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one person can have on the world around them. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Kathy Hardaway, Larry Wenta, and Steve Wenta.

Cremation was chosen and a Graveside Service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, Kan.
