Cecilia Jenny Martinez


Antonito resident Cecilia Jenny Martinez, 79, passed away February 5, 2021, at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. Cecilia came into the world on March 17, 1941, in Truchas, New Mexico, the daughter of Besalirez Martinez and Tonita Sandoval Martinez. In 1944, Cecilia moved to Red Cliff with her parents. She met the love of her life Harold Martinez in 1956 and after three years of dating the two were united in marriage on April 6, 1959. They shared a long and loving union until her passing. Cecilia was a kind and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, canning, camping, arts and crafts, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all Cecilia cherished the life she had with the love of her life Harold for 63 years. She will be dearly missed.

She will live on through her husband Harold Martinez, daughters Pauline Martinez, Patricia (Andrew) Gallegos, sons Tony (Michelle) Martinez, Richard (Suzy) Martinez, Greg (Tina) Martinez, grandchildren Tanya Sandoval, Tammy Sandoval, Andrew Gallegos, Greg Martinez Jr., Anthony Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Joey Gallegos, Brianna Martinez, Soraya Martinez, Nate Martinez, Ethan Martinez, Lyndia Martinez, great-grandchildren Victoria Wu, Amaya Sisneros, Bryan Sisneros,  Saday Sisneros, Isaac Sisneros, Kiara Gallegos Brennen Gallegos, great-great-grandchildren Avianna Marroquin, and Ellieana Martinez. She is also survived by many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her mother Tonita Sandoval, father Besalirez Martinez, son Harold V. Martinez, granddaughter Kristie Gallegos, brother Jose B. Martinez, sisters Alicia Smithhisier and Flora Martinez.
