ALAMOSA — Kindling New Fires of Love is the theme for this year’s May Friendship Day, to be observed by Church Women United on May 5 at 12 p.m. noon at the First United Methodist Church in Alamosa.

The afternoon will start off with a salad potluck luncheon and end with a worship service, including a special tribute to Marianne Dunne, long-time leader of the local Church Women United. Dunne, who lived a life of service to church, community, family and friends, died last July.

May Friendship Day focuses on how we might extend loving hands and hearts to address the needs of children in our community and the world.
