Centauri boys, Gunnison girls win Del Norte meet

ALAMOSA – The Del Norte High School track and field team hosted its annual meet Saturday at the Tigers’ stadium.

Alamosa

The Mean Moose had one individual champion in Jesse Maestas who won the pole vault at 13-0.

Also placing for the Alamosa boys were Ethan Arnoldi who was second in the pole vault at 11-8 and eighth in the long jump at 16-6 ½, Brant Jackson who was second in the high jump at 6-4, Bryan Hernandez who was fourth in the 1,600 in 5:36.02, Jace Montoya who was fifth in the discus at 113-11, Marvin Rodas who was seventh in the pole vault at 8-2, Caleb Brown who tied for eighth in the high jump at 5-2, Jeremiah Nicholas who was eighth in the pole vault at 7-8, and Kingston Wilcox who tied for eighth in the high jump at 5-2.

The Mean Moose also placed in three relays including second in the 4x800 in 9:36.43, fifth in the 4x100 in 58.45, and fifth in the 4x200 in 1:57.92.

For the Lady Mean Moose, Kaylee Gonzales-Moore was second in the 100 in 13.26, and Isabella Lopez was seventh in the 1,600 in 6:46.55.

Alamosa was also sixth in the girls 4x200 in 2:15.80.

Centauri

The Falcons had four individual champions in Tyrel Hostetter who won the 1,600 in 5:09.06, Rye Howsmon who won the long jump at 18-7, Troy Sowards who won the high jump at 6-8, and Carson Bagwell who won the triple jump at 39-9. Bagwell was also third in the high jump at 5-10.

Also placing for the Centauri boys were Konner Horton who was second in the 300 hurdles in 45.95 and third in the 110 hurdles in 19.26, Carson Shawcroft who was second in the triple jump at 37-1 and tied for fifth in the high jump at 5-6, Donovan Jarvies who was fourth in the high jump at 5-8, Richardson Tailleur who was fourth in the 200 in 23.68, Ammon Reed who was fifth in the 110 hurdles in 19.82 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 49.04, Tavish Roberts who tied for fifth in the pole vault at 9-2, Kaleb Anderson who was sixth in the 3,200 in 12:43.39 and seventh in the 1,600 in 5:50.45, Graham Hunzeker who was sixth in the shot put at 33-4, Mason Weyers who was sixth in the 110 hurdles in 20.10, Cole Jackson who was seventh in the 110 hurdles in 20.11 and seventh in the 300 hurdles in 49.26, and Shelton Sowards who was seventh in the long jump at16-8 ½.

The Falcons also won three relays including the 4x100 in 46.18, the 4x200 in 1:35.55, and the 4x400 in 3:42.84.

The Lady Falcons had 10 placers including Alyvia Norton who was second in the high jump at 5-0, Analyn Dwyer who tied for third in the high jump at 4-10 and was seventh in the 100 in 14.24,Bailey Graber who was third in the 1,600 in 6:04.09 and fifth in the 400 in 1:10.05, McKenzie Torres who was third in the 3,200 in 13:06.84, Sara Kelly who tied for fourth in the pole vault at 6-2, Brooklyn Shawcroft who also tied for fourth in the pole vault at 6-2, Mikasa Gilleland who was fifth in the 200 in 30.05 and tied for seventh in the high jump at 4-6, Faith Medellin who was sixth in the 1,600 in 6:46.39 and sixth in the 800 in 3:04.10, Kaia Skadberg who was seventh in the 200 in 30.23, and Harper Russell who was eighth in the 100 hurdles in 19.54.

The Lady Falcons also placed in three relays. They were second in the 4x200 in 1:59.90, third in the 4x100 in 56.15, and third in the 800 sprint medley in 2:04.10.

Center

Leading the Vikings were Caden Ruggles who was second in the long jump at 18-6 ¾ and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 48.72, Andree Meraz who was third in the discus at 119-6, and Timone Dolan who was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 49.11.

They were also sixth in the 4x200 in 1:58.73.

The Lady Vikings had one individual champion in Emiliana Valdez who won the shot put at 28-3. ½.

Also placing for the Center girls were Ciara Paiz who was fifth in the long jump at 14-7 ½, seventh in the triple jump at 30-4 and eighth in the 100 in 14.25, and Giselle Meraz was seventh in the shot put at 23-7.

Creede

The Miners had one placer in Tyler Sliwonski who was sixth in the triple jump at 33-5.

The Lady Miners had two placers in Jasmine Laing who tied for third in the high jump at 4-10, and Lila Fairchild who tied for fifth in the same event at 4-8.

Del Norte

The Tigers had four athletes place in more than one event. Cruz Matta was second in the 1,600 in 5:17.15 and third in the 800 in 2:17.58, Caleb Cowett was third in the 400 in 54.04 and sixth in the 800 in 2:20.81, Mads Krueger was third in the 3,200 in 12:03.46 and eighth in the 800 in 2:23.10, and Damon Ledford-Vigil was third in the pole vault at 11-2 and fourth in the 400 in 55.77.

Also placing for the Del Norte boys were Jose Pinon who was fifth in the 1,600 in 5:40. 55, Wyatt VanZalinge who was fifth in the pole vault at 9-2, and Calvin Quintana who was seventh in the shot put at 32-7.

The Tigers also placed third in the 4x400 in 3:58.65.

For the Lady Tigers, Timay Garcia tied for fourth in the pole vault at  6-2, and Frannie Edelin was fifth in the 1,600 in 6:10. 41.

Moffat

Moffat had only one placer in Shauna Pollard who was eighth in the 800 in 3:13.13.

Monte Vista

The Pirates had one champion in Jack Noonan who won the 300 hurdles in 45.75. He was also fifth in the 200 in 24.49.

Also placing for the Pirates were Alex Gonzales who was sixth in the 200 in 25.05, Jamian Martinez who was fifth in the 400 in 56.46 and seventh in the 800 in 2:22.18, Axl Schuknecht who was seventh in the 200 in 25.09, and Johnjake Naranjo who was eighth in the discus at 107-8.

Monte Vista was also third in the boys 4x400 in 4:14.08.

For the Lady Pirates, Hannah Henderhan was fourth in the discus at 83-5 and sixth in the shot put at 24-1, Torrina Heredia was fourth in the 200 in 29.92, Madison Henderhan wasfifth in the shot put at 24-11 and tied for seventh in the discus at 79-7, Elena Baumgardner tied for seventh in the triple jump at 29-9, and Daylin Castro was eighth in the 300 hurdles in 58.58.

The Lady Pirates also won two relays including the 4x200 in 1:58.54 and the 4x400 in 4:51.33. They were also second in the 4100 in 55.74 and fifth in the 800 sprint medley in 2:11.53.

Sanford

The Mustangs had one champion in Tucker Canty who won the 800 in 2:15.60.

Also placing for the Sanford boys were Lincoln Reynolds who was second in the 100 in 11.61 and third in the 200 in 23.26, and Bryce Keck who was eighth in the shot put at 32-4.

The Mustangs placed in three relays. They were third in the 4x100 in 50.59, third in the 4x200 in 1:39.09, and fifth in the 4x400 in 4:19.27.

The Lady Mustangs won five events. Brecken Crowther won the long jump at 16-2 ¼, Holly McDaniel won the 100 hurdles in 17.15 and the 300 hurdles in 50.67, and Erica Miller won the 400 in 1:03.10 and the 800 in 2:37.62.

McDaniel was also second in the triple jump at 33-10 ½.

Also placing for the Lady Mustangs were Ashley Dominguez who was sixth in the 100 in 14.17, and Jaimey Turner who tied for seventh in the discus in 77-2.

The Sanford girls also won two relays including the 800 sprint medley in 1:58.33, and the 4x800 in 13:17.89. They were also fourth in the 4x100 in 56.29, and fourth in the 4x200 in 2:02.50.

Sangre de Cristo

The Thunderbirds had two placers in Brody Artaechevarria who was fourth in the 800 in 2:18.7, seventh in the triple jump at 33-2 ½ and eighth in the 400 in 59.06, and William Wilson who was eighth in the 3,200 in 13:05.42.

For the Lady Thunderbirds, Taylor Freel was sixth in the discus at 83-1 and eighth in the shot put at 22-8 ½.

Sargent

The Farmers had two placers in Westen Burkhart who was fifth in the 800 in 2:19.55 and eighth in the 300 hurdles in 50.17, and Josiah Yocum who was seventh in the 3,200 in 12:55.09.

For the Lady Farmers, Bailey Asbell was second in the 300 hurdles in 53.22, fourth in the 100 hurdles in 17.83 and tied for seventh in the high jump at 4-6. Madaline Mitchell was third in the 400 in 1:09.71 and fifth in the 100 in 14.13, Silva Daugherty was sixth in the 400 in 1:110.10, and Kimmy Pargin was sixth in the 100 hurdles in 19.09.

The Lady Farmers placed fourth in the 800 sprint medley in 2:09.24.
