Centauri boys, Pagosa girls win Del Norte meet

DEL NORTE – The Del Norte High School track and field team hosted its annual home invitational Saturday at the Del Norte stadium.

Centauri High School won the boys meet with 77 points, five points better than runner-up Bayfield. Pagosa Springs was third with 64 ½ points, followed by Monte Vista with 63 and La Junta with 62.

Pagosa Springs won the girls meet with 126 points. Gunnison was second with 103, La Junta was third with 63, Sanford was fourth with 53, and Hayden was fifth with 50.

Alamosa

The Alamosa boys placed 11th with 33 ½ points. Leading the Mean Moose was Jesse Maestas who won the pole vault at a height of 12-3.

Also placing for Alamosa were Karter Tolsma who was third in the long jump at 18-8, Jace Montoya who was fifth in the discus at 113-1 ¼, Mike Trujillo who was fifth in the shot put at 37-8, Dylan Crowther who was eighth in the 1,600 in 5:40.15, and Johnathan Ramirez who was eighth in the 800 in 2:29.61.

The Mean Moose also placed in two relays. They placed fourth in the 4x800 in 10:18.52 and seventh in the 4x100 in 48.32.

The Lady Mean Moose took sixth place with 42 points. Three athletes placed in more than one event as Brooke Gonzales was second in the shot put at 30-1 and fourth in the discus at 97-7, Kaylee Gonzales-Moore was second in the 100 in 13.44 and seventh in the 400 in 1:10.06, and Kaidence Boehm was third in the shot put at 28-8 ¾ and seventh in the discus at 90-5.

Other scorers included Olivia Tuioti-Mariner who was fourth in the 400 in 1:08.78, Sara Kelly who was seventh in the pole vault at 5-9, and Vanessa Villalva who was seventh in the 1,600 in 6:39.42.

Alamosa also took seventh in the 800 sprint medley in 2:21.49.

Antonito

The Antonito girls tied for 22nd place with five points. The Lady Trojans’ only placer was Zanita Garcia who was fourth in the 3,200 in 19:27.36.

The Antonito boys did not place.

Centauri

The Falcons boys team was led by Austin Stockebrand who won the 110 hurdles in 17.29 and the 300 hurdles in 44.67. He was also fourth in the triple jump at 36-0 ½.

Shelton Sowards was also a champion as he won the long jump at 19-4 ½.

Two other Centauri boys placed in two events as Antonio Valdez was second in the 110 hurdles in 19.33 and third in the 300 hurdles in 49.68, and Konner Horton was third in the 110 hurdles in 20.35 and eighth in the 300 hurdles in 51.53.

Other Falcon scorers included Tyrel Hostetter who was second in the 1,600 in 5:23.23, and Adrian Prieto who was eighth in the discus at 106-10.

Centauri placed in two boys relays. It took third in the 4x100 in 46.93, and sixth in the 4x200 in 1:41.59.

The Centauri girls placed 11th with 29 ½ points. The Lady Falcon individual placers included Tayte Hostetter who was third in the 800 in 2:45.49, McKenzie Torres who was sixth in the 1,600 in 6:31.71, and Kaia Skadberg who was seventh in the 400 in 1:10.00.

The Lady Falcons placed in three relays. They were second in the 4x800 in 12:12.50, third in the 800 sprint medley in 2:07.31, and sixth in the 4x200 in 2:05.97.

Center

The Center boys tied for 16th place with five points. Their only placer was Andree Meraz who was fourth in the discus at 116-7 ¾.

The Lady Vikings were 19th with six points. Their sole scorer was Ciara Paiz who was fifth in the long jump at 14-10 and seventh in the 100 in 13.76.

Creede

The Creede boys also tied for 16th place with five points. Ryder Whitehorn was the Miners’ only scorer as he was seventh in the triple jump at 35-0, seventh in the discus at 111-6 ½ and eighth in the shot put at 36-10.

The Lady Miners did not score.

Del Norte

The Del Norte boys took 12th place with 24 points. Leading the Tigers were Colby Gandy who was second in the 300 hurdles in 48.47, and Riley Orr who was fourth in the pole vault at 10-9.

Del Norte also placed in two boys relays. They were third in the 4x400 in 4:01.92, and fifth in the 4x800 in 10:27.90.

The Lady Tigers took 10th place with 30 points. Their placers included Aden Howell who won the pole vault at 7-9, Shelby VanZalinge who tied for second in the pole vault at 7-3, Kenzie Smith who tied for fourth in the pole vault at 6-9, and Abriana Peerman who was fifth in the discus at 97-2 and fifth in the shot put at 27-4 ¼.

Moffat

Moffat did not score in either the boys or girls meets.

Monte Vista

The Monte Vista boys had two champions as Alejandro Felix won the shot put at 43-7 ½, and Damian Lopez won the 100 in 11.41.

Also placing for the Pirates were Khegan Gunter who was third in the 100 in 11.72, Josiah Velasquez who was fourth in the long jump at 18-6 ½, Addan Heredia who was sixth in the long jump at 18-5, and Mason Weyers who was seventh in the 110 hurdles in 21.66.

Monte Vista also won two relays. It took the 4x100 in 45.73 and the 4x200 in 1:35.19. The Pirates were also fifth in the 4x400 in 4:08.21.

The Monte Vista girls tied for eighth with 33 points. Scoring for the Lady Pirates were Syriah Bernal who tied for third in the high jump at 4-7, and Nayeli Murietta was fourth in the triple jump at 30-4 ½.

Monte Vista also placed in four relays. It was second in the 4x400 in 4:58.10, third in the 4x200 in 2:00.34. fourth in the 800 sprint medley in 2:13.41, and fifth in the 4x100 in 56.75.

Sanford

The Sanford boys took sixth place with 57 ½ points. The Mustangs were led by Ren Canty who won the 800 in 2:13.98 and was second in the 3,200, 11:31.35, and Lincoln Reynolds who won the 400 in 56.00 and was eighth in the 100 in 11.86.

Other Sanford boys placers included Gauge Lewis who was second in the 100 in 11.47, Justin McCarroll who was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 51.06, Tucker Canty who was seventh in the 400 in 59.96, and Craig Ford who was eighth in the long jump at 18-1.

The Mustangs placed in three relays. It was second in the 4x200 in 1:38.47, fifth in the 4x100 in 47.72, and sixth in the 4x400 in 4:12.46.

The Sanford girls were led by Erica Miller who won the 800 in 2:36.36. Holly McDaniel placed in three events as she was second in the 300 hurdles in 54.56, third in the triple jump at 30-10 and fifth in the 100 hurdles in 18.20.

The Lady Mustangs placed in four relays including a win in the 800 sprint medley in 2:03.43. They were also fourth in the 4x200 in 2:03.15, fourth in the 4x400 in 5:21.23, and sixth in the 1x100 in 56.86.

Sangre de Cristo

The Sangre de Cristo boys were 21st with one point. Their only scoring was in the 4x800 where they took eighth in 11:16.26.

The Sangre girls tied for 12th with 20 points. Leading the Lady Thunderbirds were Peyton Metz who was second in the 200 in 28.91 and fifth in the 100 in 13.62, and Presley Wilson who was sixth in the discus at 90-7.

Sangre was also fourth in the girls 4x800 in 13:47.19.

Sargent

The Sargent boys were 13th with 21 points. Leading the Farmers were Westen Burkhart who was sixth in the 800 in 2:27.12 and seventh in the 300 hurdles in 51.27, Summit Marshburn who was sixth in the 400 in 58.32, Josiah Yocom who was sixth in the 1,600 in 5:31.39, and Hayden Lester who was seventh in the long jump at 18-2 ½.

Sargent also took second in the boys 4x800 in 9:56.13.

The Sargent girls were 14th with 15 ½ points. The Lady Farmers’ only placer was Bailey Asbell who won the 300 hurdles in 54.06, was sixth in the 100 hurdles in 18.67, and tied for seventh in the high jump at 4-5.

Sierra Grande

The Sierra Grande boys took 22nd place with ½ point. The Panthers only placer was Ayden Lopez who tied for seventh in the high jump at 5-1.

The Lady Panthers did not score.
