Centauri pupils help prepare Conejos county for Veterans Day

LA JARA — John F. Kennedy stated, “We shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty.”

As one drove through Conejos County on Veterans day, one may have noticed that American flags had been placed approximately every mile along the west side of the U.S. 285 corridor.

For the past several months, Centauri High School students Jessa Christensen, Jace Crowther and Courteney Robins have planned and carried out this project. Through the generous donations of Valley Electric, American Electric, La Jara Trading Post, Tractor Supply and numerous community members, this project has been completed.

Centauri SkillsUSA is proud to pay tribute to our men and women in the military and celebrate the many freedoms that we enjoy in this great nation. As a part of SkillsUSA, students “believe in the American way of life and know their culture is the result of freedom of action and opportunities won by the founders of our American republic” (SkillsUSA Creed). We realize the suffrage of the times and the magnitude of the sacrifices. As we see these flags may we all take a moment to give thanks for all that we have and may we never forget the sacrifices of those who have given so much.
