ALAMOSA – Tim Yount released his sixth On the Mat high school wrestling rankings and his third girls rankings on Friday with several competitors from the San Luis Valley being recognized.

Centauri is still at the top of the Class 2A team rankings. Following the Falcons are Wray, Cedaredge, Buena Vista, Meeker, Rocky Ford, Highland, Crowley County, Wiggins and Mancos.

In Class 3A, Alamosa has risen in the team rankings going from seventh to fourth. Mullen is still the top-ranked team, followed by Eaton, Jefferson, Alamosa, Severance, Gunnison, Platte Valley, Valley, Brush and Moffat County.

Class 2A

Centauri

Centauri High School has nine wrestlers in the rankings including two at the top of their weight divisions. Eyan Chavez tops the 152-pound rankings, while Erik Mestas is in first at 170.

Two more Falcons are ranked second. Byron Shawcroft is second at 195, and Mario Vigil is second at 120.

Also ranked for Centauri are Zach Buhr, who is third at 182, Josh Polkowske, who is fourth at 160, Riley Valdez, who is sixth at 113, Cyrus Sandoval, who is ninth at 138, and Matthew Salazar, who is 10th at 106.

Center

Center has two ranked wrestlers in Jordan Duran, who is fourth at 106, and Jesus Valadez, who is 13th at 182.

Del Norte

Del Norte has a single wrestler in the rankings with Malachi Gallegos first at 120 pounds.

Monte Vista

Monte Vista has three ranked wrestlers. The Pirates who are ranked are DeAngelo Archuleta, who is third at 138, Damian Lopez, who is fifth at 126, and Nathaniel Juarez, who is seventh at 120.

Sargent

Sargent has one ranked wrestler in Trenton Lovelace, who is second at 220.

Sierra Grande/Centennial

The Sierra Grande/Centennial co-op team also has one ranked wrestler in C.J. Nix, who is 16th at 182 pounds.

Class 3A

Alamosa

In Class 3A, Alamosa has seven wrestlers in the rankings.

Leading the way for the Mean Moose is Dempsey Gibbs, who is at the top of the 113-pound standings.

Two more Moose are ranked third in Trevor Maestas (132) and Dario Valdez (120). Kyler Liddell is ranked fourth at 145.

Rounding out the ranked Alamosa wrestlers are Dyson Woodward, who is seventh at 106, Logan Garcia, who is 10th at 195, and Sage Rockcastle, who is 12th at 126.

Girls

Alamosa

Alamosa is ranked 10th in the girls team standings. Chatfield is ranked first, followed by Pomona, Doherty, Discovery Canyon, Loveland, Vista Ridge, Jefferson, Douglas County, Legacy and Alamosa.

Two Lady Mean Moose are in the individual rankings. Sarah DeLaCerda is ranked first at 111 pounds, while Isabella Durgan is second at 215.
