Chacon of Centauri to Colorado State University-Pueblo

LA JARA — The resident destruction artist for Centauri, senior Bennie Chacon will look to continue his football career for a team that has enjoyed a recent wealth of success within the past decade.

The Thunderwolves have had a hand in the RMAC championship for 7 of the past 8 years and are five years removed from a national title. Chacon is no stranger to success and also comes from a successful program.

In Chacon’s tenure the Falcons made post season in three-of-four years, last season Centauri even hosted the State Championship game. During his time at Centauri Chacon garnered 320 tackles and ten sacks, even throwing in an interception in for good measure.

Chacon has earned All-Valley Player of the Year awards and All-State his junior and senior seasons and was also Centauri’s first All-American. Chacon has also experienced success off the field, as a wrestler he has earned a 3rd placing his sophomore Season, and just this year took home the individual title at 285 pounds in his senior season.

At Colorado State University-Pueblo Chacon would likely look to contribute on a defensive line that’s headlined by junior Jackson Wibbels. Wibbels boasted 78 tackles- 20.5 for loss, 11.5 sacks and forced fumble in last year’s campaign.

Talking on his love of football Chacon was grateful “My athletic career has been a fun journey and I am blessed that I can still compete” looking forward he continued “I have signed to play football at CSU-Pueblo because I really love the game of football and the opportunity it has brought me and I love what the program and school has to offer.”
