Champ athlete to share her story at TSJC

ALAMOSA — Born and raised in Mexico, one of 16 children. Zoila Gomez is well-known as a professional athlete, youth mentor and community advocate.

As an elite athlete Zoila was the 2008 USA women marathon Olympic alternate and represented the United States of America in three world championship events in the marathon: Osaka, Japan 2007, Berlin, Germany 2009 and Daegu Korea in 2011. While at Adams State, Zoila was named the women’s collegiate athlete of the year, won six national titles in Track and Field and was an 11 time All American. 

Zoila’s passion for life and the sport is second to none. Her journey… one to be heard. motto in life is; “Be, Dream, Believe- Se, Sueña  y Cree.” 

Join Trinidad State Junior College on Tuesday, October 9 on the Trinidad Campus in Trinidad from 12-1 p.m. in the Pioneer Room. Also on the Alamosa Campus at Trinidad State, October 10 from 12-1 p.m. in the auditorium to hear more about her journey. 

She will share the obstacles she has encountered, opportunities and the network of support that has helped her reach the unreachable.
