Clayton James “Jim” Parker

Clayton James “Jim” Parker, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa Colorado.  Jim was born May 14th, 1941 in Alamosa, Colorado to Clayton J. Parker and Harriett Gertrude (Dodds) Parker.  He honorably served his country in the United States Navy.  Jim owned Jim’s Diesel in Alamosa as well as truck driver and mechanic at Rio Grande Motorway.  He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting, he was a true outdoorsman.

Jim also had a passion for farming, ranching and driving trucks.  He was a strong supporter of the San Luis Valley fair.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rita Parker, his children, Denise (Robert) Christensen of Eustis, Florida, Deanna Parker and Dee Chinn of Brighton, Colorado, Dawna (Robert) Gudka of Keenesburg, Colorado, Casey and Kessie Clifton of Mosca and Katie (Chuck) Montague of Mosca, his grandchildren, Tifany (David) Alexander, Marc (Bethany) Christensen, Alan (Kaylie) Gudka, Bryan Gudka, Blake Gudka, Shyana Clifton, Kylee Clifton, Skylar Montague, Tyson Montague and Sydney Montague, his great-grandchildren, Collette Alexander, Eloise Alexander, Luxe Christensen, Tripp Christensen, Ethan Clifton and Cashley Gudka as well as his siblings, Joanie (John) Cavaliere, Dixie (Alan) Rogers and Tommy (Charlotte) Parker as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his great-grandchild Piper Christensen and his sister Annie Roberts and brother-in-law Jim Roberts.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday July 13, 2021, at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa with interment following at the Alamosa Cemetery.

Contributions in his memory are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation and may be made in the care of the funeral home office.
