Cleo A. Gonzales

SAN LUIS — Lifelong San Luis resident Cleo Amalia Gonzales, 77, went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Cleo was born on March 3, 1943, in San Luis, Colorado, the daughter of Zacharias Vigil and Lola Gonzales Vigil. She worked as a cook for the Centennial School District for many years, she loved to interact with all the children who attended school there as well as the community. Cleo was a devoted and exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and grandchildren, playing cards, reading, picking piñon, and doing word games. She was an avid Eagles fan and lived to be a social butterfly. She will be dearly missed.

She will live on through her husband Eloy A. Gonzales of San Luis, CO; daughter Denise (Clyde) Sandoval of Peñasco, NM; daughter-in-law Rebecca (Jason) Chavez of Denver, CO; grandchildren RaeLynn (Matthew) Martinez, Zachary (Karen) Gonzales both of Denver, CO; Emilio (Reyna) Duran, Shania Gonzales, Deni Leigh Gonzales, Angel Sandoval all of San Luis, CO; great-grandson Zachary Gonzales Jr., sister Rosalie Aragon of San Luis. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents Zacharias and Lola Vigil, brother Modesto Vigil and one son Denny Gonzales.

A Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020, from 4-8 PM at the Grace Chapel in San Luis. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020, at 11:00 AM also at the Grace Chapel in San Luis. Interment will follow at the Grace Chapel Cemetery. At the request of Cleo’s family Due to COVID Precaution, we will be limiting entry, practicing social distancing, requiring masks to be worn at all times and will be taking temperatures at the door. Hands must be sanitized upon entry. Masks and sanitizer will be provided if needed. The care of arrangements has been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
