CML presents Municipal Hero Awards

LA JARA — Each year the Colorado Municipal League (CML) hosts the Municipal Hero Award program, which recognizes community leaders, volunteers, residents, and municipal employees who have gone above and beyond to make their cities and towns great places to live, work, and/or play during the year prior. These are the “unsung heroes” of a city or town.

Two of this year’s winners were La Jara’s George Galaviz and Antonia Lavadour. These recent high school graduates were nominated by La Jara’s mayor pro tem Paula Medina for their efforts to help elementary school students understand the importance of making good choices, tips to avoid peer pressure, and how to avoid the dangers of drugs. The Town of La Jara could not be more proud of the contribution George and Tona have made to local youth and the community.

All of this year’s winners were recognized at the General Luncheon on June 21st during CML’s annual conference in Vail.
