Colorado Ag Water Alliance Virtual Meeting focus on San Luis Valley

SAN LUIS VALLEY -- The San Luis Valley will be the focus of a virtual meeting hosted by the Colorado Ag Water Alliance on Thursday, March 25 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.  Presentations will include “Colorado Master Irrigator Program in the Republican River Basin” by Brandi Baquera, Program Coordinator; “Updates from Sub-District 1” by Marisa Fricke with the Rio Grande Water Conservation District; “Reduced Irrigation Potato Trials” by CSU Extension Specialist Samuel Essah; and “Crop Insurance and Prevented Planning” by Chavito Espinoza and Cameron Barr of Mountain West Insurance and Financial Services, LLC, and Brandon Thomas with Farmers Mutual Hail.

The virtual meeting is part of a series of such events being held by the Colorado Ag Water Alliance for the purpose of engaging stakeholders across the state.

  The Colorado Ag Water Alliance (CAWA) is comprised of agricultural leaders from across Colorado committed to the preservation of agriculture through the wise use of Colorado’s water resources. Members represent major facets of production agriculture, as well as partner organizations such as the Colorado Water Institute, Colorado State University, Colorado Department of Agriculture, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
