Comedy Hypnotist Rusty Z at Society Hall Nov. 16

ALAMOSA — Society Hall, at 400 Ross Avenue in Alamosa, is proud to present Comedy Hypnotist Rusty Z, “The Hypnotic Comic™” on stage Thursday, November 16th at 7 p.m. (new start time for winter). Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and are available online at www.societyhall.org, or in Alamosa at The Green Spot, 711 State Ave.

Society Hall is excited to have Rusty Z, one of the few, real deal stand-up comedians, perform his combination of comedy and hypnosis! Unlike most other stage hypnotists out there, Rusty Z has honed his craft by touring the country (as well as appearing on several national television shows!) as a professional stand-up comedian. Only after successfully mastering the comedy portion of his show, did he study hypnosis (with some of the best mentors in the business).

By the way, here’s a dirty little secret other “comedy” hypnotist don’t want you to know: The hypnotizing part is easy, it’s the comedy part that’s tough to master! Based in Denver, Rusty Z travels the U.S.A. (and sometimes the world) with his unique blend of clever stand-up comedy and stage hypnotism!

Comedian Rusty Z has hypnotized tens of thousands of people over the last 15 years. Hypnotic Comic Rusty Z has been entertaining people throughout the United States with his combination Stand-Up Comedy and Stage Hypnosis Show. Rusty Z is one of the few stage hypnotists who come from a stand-up comedy (as seen on Comedy Central) background. Instead of the usual canned hypnosis show, Rusty Z presents a show that’s funny from start to finish. Rusty Z doesn’t do the standard canned hypnosis demonstration that a magician, DJ or hypnotherapist-turned-stage-hypnotist dishes out, he’ll deliver a screamingly funny and audience-appropriate “hypnosis party.”

Before show biz James R. Zingelman (yes, he has a real name) worked in printing and publishing doing customer service/sales. James started a rock and roll band and played the drums. The band, The Borrowed Times, went on to be named “Denver’s Best Dance Band” by Westword, Denver’s local arts and entertainment newspaper.

Working full time and drumming part time, James wasn’t satisfied. He began to pursue a career in comedy (he had written a paper in the third grade proclaiming that he wanted to be a comedian, “like Alan King”, when he grew up). After a few years traveling around the country as a club stand-up, James became a full-time instructor at Comedy Defensive Driving in Dallas, Texas.

James moved to Albuquerque, NM and added hypnosis to his comedy act. He studied with some of the best teachers in the hypnosis and hypnotherapy field. The rest is history. James was already a well-known comedic, so he adopted the stage name “Rusty Z, The Hypnotic Comic.”  James now specializes in comedy hypnosis shows for corporate events, fairs, high schools, associations and other groups. He also produces and performs his very original hypnosis show, continues to work as a stand-up comic and writes custom comedy material tailored to each client and audience. James also has a part-time hypnotherapy business and is constantly adding new titles to his recorded hypnosis product line.
