Commissioners meeting

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa County Board of County Commissioners will meet on Wednesday. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak the meeting will take place in a virtual conference room. The board will receive numerous updates from different departments during their meeting. Bryan Maestas of the Alamosa Noxious Weed Control will provide the board with an update on their efforts. Weed Control has since begun their season of spot spraying and mowing county right of ways. Dell Cox-Viera of Alamosa County Public Health will deliver the public health update.

The update could be one of note as on Tuesday the San Luis Valley saw another spike in cases over the long weekend confirming 19 new cases. The Board will also see an update from Catherine Salazar from the Alamosa County Department of Human Services and Roni Wisdom of the Alamosa County Controller regarding the Colorado Retirement Association (CRA) agreement.

Executive session on Wednesday will cover the Rite of Passage facility behind the Sheriff’s Office. Being that this is the first County Commissioner session since Monday’s announcement of the variance denial look for the Board to continue exploring their options in an effort to get Alamsoa back open safely and in accordance with state mandates.
