Community invited to Antonito event

ANTONITO — Please join South Conejos School District on February 20th from 6-8:30 p.m. to explore ways to decrease risky behavior for students, both in school and an in our community. Be a part of a solution to help create a healthier community, with an emphasis on substance abuse prevention.

The evening will start with a dinner in the district’s cafeteria. Following dinner, the School and Community Action Meeting will consist of an introduction of Conejos County Chief, Garth Crowther, a community premiere of “Salvar Luis,” and a presentation by Deputy Robert Filmor.

“Salvar Luis” is a film created by Antonito High School students exploring how drug addiction can lead to complicated family dynamics. Students will create connections between their film and community influences.

Deputy Filmor’s presentation on “How to know if kids are using drugs” will examine different types of drugs, warning signs, and preventative measures.

Day care services will be provided for families.
