Cooper announces for city council

ALAMOSA– A longtime member of the Alamosa School board has announced his candidacy for Alamosa City Council Ward 2.

Darrel Cooper was raised in Alamosa, attended schools here graduating from AHS in 1969 and later graduated from Adams State. He served on the school board for seven years including the last two years as president as well as serving on the planning and zoning board for four years and is currently chairman of the Alamosa Housing Authority Board.

His life work was in the grocery business.

“I care about Alamosa and want to serve the citizens of Alamosa,” Cooper said. “I want to be part of the many good things going on in Alamosa.”
Cooper said he sees some challenges the city is facing and he would like to be part of pushing the issues of infrastructure, the deer population, homeless concerns, economic development and other challenges.
