ALAMOSA — Cora Gurule, 89, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2020, at the Pikes Peak Hospice Center in Colorado Springs with her loving family by her side. Cora was welcomed into the world on April 14, 1931, in San Pablo, Colorado, the daughter of Donato Esquibel and Delfina Atencio Esquibel. Cora devoted her life to raising and taking care of her family. She enjoyed dancing, going cruising, cooking, taking long walks, and socializing with her friends.  Cora cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.

Survivors include her daughters Louella Gurule of San Luis, CO; Elaine Gurule of Alamosa, CO; sons Karl Gurule, Isaac Gurule both of Colorado Springs, CO; Gary Gurule of San Pablo, CO; Vernon Gurule of Thornton, CO; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother Larry (Lupe) Esquibel of Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents Donato and Delfina Esquibel, one daughter Diane Salazar, one sister and five brothers.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020, from 1-5 at the Romero Funeral Chapel in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, at 10:00 AM at the San Pedro Catholic Church in San Pedro. Interment will follow at the San Pablo Cemetery.
