Cora Pena 79 years old long-time resident of Del Norte, Colorado, Peacefully Passed away on January 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Cora was born on March 1, 1942, in Del Norte, Colorado, to Claude and Adolfita Trujillo.
Cora’s lifetime successes included working as a CNA for 30 years, later working in a nursing home, housekeeping, and finally moving into the laundry department, where she eventually retired from the Rio Grande Hospital. She was very proud and dedicated to the work she did to help people in need.
When Cora was not spending time helping others, she enjoyed crocheting, cleaning in her home while listening to Spanish music, working in her yard, taking rides to the mountains, spending time with her family, fixing puzzles, and eating Sonic onion rings.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Aldolfita Trujillo, two brothers, Donnie and Paul Trujillo; three sisters, Martha Medina and Mary Leblanc and Juanita Trujillo; and her grandson Isaac Medina.
She is survived by her Brothers John Trujillo (Brenda), Claude Trujillo (Victoria), Brother/nephew Daniel (Linda), sisters Sophie (Robert), and Esther, and her children James Gonzales (Claudette), Norbert Gonzales, Vera Gonzales (John), Elaine Dominguez (Steve), Chris Gonzales, Phyllis Gonzales, Thomas Pena, and Peggy Romero (Ernie), and 28 Grandchildren, 33 Great-grandchildren, and 5 Great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Vigil service with recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday January 14, 2022 at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday January 15, 2022 also at the church with interment following in the Del Norte Cemetery.
