Courier reveals 2019 Miss Merry Christmases

ALAMOSA– Unique Ross, Alamosa High School’s 2019 homecoming queen, will represent the Valley Courier as this year’s Miss Merry Christmas in a special holiday edition on Wednesday, Nov 27.

Ross (Roas) will be joined by Little Miss Merry Christmas Zoey Atencio who was drawn from a dozen entries received for the honor. She is daughter of Jon and Lindsey Atencio of Alamosa and is a student at the Gingerbread pre-school here.

Ross, daughter of Heather Parga and Josh Bowen, is a senior at AHS where she has participated in softball, track and field and basketball, and is student council president, Key Club president and historian for the National Honor Society, as well as a member of FFA and SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving). She has lettered four years in softball, three years in track and one year in basketball and was named outstanding freshman athlete of the year.

Outside of school, she has been involved with providing hospitality service for AirBnB and has a paracord business, making paracord products. She has also volunteered with the Valley Humane League and San Luis Care Center nursing home where she donated over 100 holiday gift baskets to residents.

Upon graduation, Unique plans to either attend college majoring in athletic training or sports psychology or enlist in the USAF ROTC program. Her universities of choice are Colorado Mesa University or Texas
