COVID-19 Utility Assistance Funds

Alamosa city households, business entities and landlords financially impacted by COVID-19 are eligible for up to $1,000 in federal CARES Act funds distributed by the City of Alamosa that can be used for paying municipal utility bills (water, sewer, trash) or other utilities such as electricity, internet, mobile devices and gas (cable is NOT eligible). This fund is designed to aid individuals, businesses or landlords that have lost income or wages, experienced a reduction in work hours, or other income hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications open November 19, 2020 and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis until the fund is exhausted or December 28, 2020, whichever is sooner.  Eligible applicants must: 

Be a resident of, or business entity located in the city of Alamosa, or be a landlord of property in the city of Alamosa;

For residents, have a household income, at the time of filing this application, of no more than 80% of the Area Median Income. 80% of Area Median Income per household size (in parentheses) in Alamosa county is as follows (monthly income before taxes): (1)$3,313 (2) $3,787 (3) $4,260 (4) $4,733 (5) $5,113 (6) $5,493 (7) $5,873 (8) $6,253

Have experienced financial hardship caused by COVID-19 such as loss of business income, temporary job loss, reduced work hours, reduced salary, etc. beginning March 1, 2020 or thereafter;

Display need via delinquent utility bills;

Be able to provide proof of lost business/rental income or wages; 

Review and Award Process: Applications will be reviewed to determine eligibility and award amount.

Awards will depend upon the amount requested, proof of need, number of applicants, and availability of funds. Application can be found at https://cityofalamosa.org/finditfast/doing-business-in-alamosa/economic-development/local-business-support/ Once the complete application is reviewed, applicants will be notified of their award status on a rolling basis but no later than December 28, 2020. If funds are awarded, payments will be made directly to the designated utilities based upon outstanding invoices submitted and approved.
