CREEDE— The Creede Early Learning Center announced it will be offering a new version of the annual home tour fundraising event.

The annual home tour on Saturday, August 26 will feature a new set of homes, ones that are sure to captivate the participating guests. Historical homeowners in the area around Creede are gearing up to invite the public into their homes and show them what it’s like to live in a 100-year old home that has all the amenities that this day and age has to offer, while keeping to the vintage feel of antique living.

The tour is one of many fundraisers the center hosts throughout the year as they rely on donations and grants for operating costs, which in turn helps keep their tuition fees lower for parents.

The center continues to grow and change, bringing new and innovative learning to the youth who attend and offer a service to the community that is needed by many working families.

The annual event changed from newer area homes to this year’s Historic Tour of Homes.

Some of the homes that will be featured will include old train depots, homes from the past mining community that forms much of Creede’s historical background and even some homesteads from around the area. It is a great way to get out and see what it was like to live in the early days of Creede.

The center was created almost 20 years ago by a group of local ladies who wanted to provide a learning environment for younger children not yet of school age. The house where the center resides was donated by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife rent free. The location of the house is just outside of town and will add to the historical feel of the tour all on its own, having been a part of the area for many years.

The tour will take place on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with a reception at the center to follow.

Tickets are available at the Creede/Mineral County Chamber of Commerce for $50/couple and $35/individual.
