Damnera Ranch repeats as ranch rodeo champion

ALAMOSA – For the second year in a row, Damnera Ranch from the Lamar area, has won the Alamosa Round-UP ranch rodeo championship.

The team, which consists of Josh Weimer, Tyler Hainer, Colton Reed, Wyatt Wollert and Dakota Canfield, won the competition with 18 points. This despite not winning a single event.

Damnera took second place in calf branding in 1:01.53, third in wild cow milking in 49.06 seconds, second in doctor and loading in 1:18.22, and third in ranch bronc riding as Hainer compiled a score of 76 points.

Huffaker Ranches and Rock Bottom both tied for second with 17 points apiece. But Huffaker, which consists of Tate Huffaker, Monte Huffaker, Cody Huffaker, Haydn Huffaker, and Troy Huffaker, placed second on the tie-breaker.

Huffaker Ranch won milking in 39.07 seconds and ranch bronc riding as Tate Huffaker scored 83 points. It was third in branding in 1:15.60 and sixth in doctor and loading in 1:47.32.

Rock Bottom, which consisted of Ty Canty, Tucker Canty, Haydn Huffaker, Colby Crowther and Colter Canty, won two events. It took branding in 35.18 seconds amd doctor and loading in 1:18.19, and was second in milking in 43.15. It did not record a score in bronc riding.

Strieter Ranch and Johnson Ranch tied for fourth place with eight points apiece, and Half Fast Cowboys were sixth with seven points.
