Daniel Trujillo Sr. originally of Capulin, Colorado, passed away on June 13, 2021, to be with his beloved wife Joann and our Lord. He died peacefully at his home in Canjilon, NM where he lived his final 4 years with his youngest daughter Doris and her family.

He is survived by his children, Karen (Allen), Daniel Trujillo Jr., Doris (Sabino) and Gregory.  His grandchildren, Nikkolas (Nicole), Marissa Hirst, Lucas Rivera, Emily Rivera, Jordan Trujillo, Daniel Trujillo, and Kaitlyn Trujillo, great grandchildren Riley, Jaxson and Zoe Trujillo.  His brothers, Eli and Anthony, and his sisters, Sadie and Cece.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joann, his mother Sulema and father Bernardo Trujillo, his older brother Bernie Trujillo and his daughter Mary Lynn Trujillo

Danny loved to tell stories and would share with anyone who seemed interested or had a moment to sit over coffee.  He loved to travel and was lucky enough to travel to Spain and Peru in the last 3 years of his life.  He had a spirit of adventure that he shared with everyone whether it was fishing or hunting in the high Colorado mountains, making music and sharing his homemade salsa or wine with friends and family. 

Everyone who knew Danny and Joann knew that their door was always open. Many of you remember joining the Trujillos for a delicious meal. The greatest lesson they taught anyone was that spending quality time together was the most important thing a family could do for each other. Danny took care of Joann through her final years and the week before he died he shared with Doris, “I am not afraid to die and I am real excited to be with your mom!”  So many lives were impacted because of the example of love they shared for each other and with us all. They both had a personal relationship with our Lord and both lived a long and full life.    

The family is very grateful for all the condolences they have received.  We are happy that our Dad touched so many lives.  Rest in peace,

you will be missed, but we know you are with Mom, happy, together, forever.

A funeral service will be held for both Danny and Joann on Friday, July 9th at St. Joseph’s Parish in Capulin Colorado. Rosary at 10:00 am and Mass at 10:30 am.  A reception meal will be held following the service at the La Jara Parish hall.
