Darrel Dix went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2022, and reunited with his wife of 65 years, Wanda. He is survived by his 4 children: Ron (Laura) Dix of New Mexico, Diana (Brad) Warrington of Cotopaxi, CO Sharla Dix of Denver, CO and Leah (Dan) Burdick of Pueblo, CO. Also surviving are brother Garry (Judy)Dix of Alamosa, CO sister Judy (Ron) Barttelbort of Denver, CO brother-in-law, Kay (Jan) Watkins of Alamosa, CO , 9 grand-children, 11 great-grandchildren, 11 nieces and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Watkins) Dix parents, Gary C. and Marjorie (Cowen) Dix sister, Winifred Jane Dix and grandchildren Kyle Dix and Christopher Baker.
Darrel was born March 13, 1934 in Fort Morgan, Colorado. His parents moved to the San Luis Valley in 1941 and farmed in the Waverly community. He graduated from Alamosa High School in 1952, as did his wife, and they were married in 1953.
After moving to Pueblo, Colorado, he started D and L Trucking. He worked for Stanley Structures and Rocky Mountain Prestress in the Denver area. Darrel loved to fly and received his pilots license. After retirement he enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
