Antonito resident David Cornelio Montoya, 85, passed away April 29, 2021 peacefully at his home under Hospice Care with his loving family by his side. David was born on July 2, 1935 in Taos, New Mexico, the son of Amarante A. Montoya and Libradita Mascarenas Montoya. David served and was a veteran of the United States Army. Once David completed his duties in the service he was united in marriage to Petronita Funez. The two shared a long, happy and loving union until his passing. David enjoyed going fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife Petronita Montoya of Conejos, CO; daughter Davalyn (Oscar) Gudino of Gypsum, CO; grandchildren Alejandra Torres, Christian Torres, David Torres all of Gypsum, CO; great-grandchildren Anayeli Torres and Jonathan Torres both of Gypsum, CO.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents as well as all of his brothers and sisters.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow after at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be held at the Alamosa Cemetery. with full military honors.
