David Gordon Buck

On July 16, 2021, this world lost the best husband, dad, and grandad there ever was when David Gordon Buck went to his eternal home in heaven.

Gordon, as he was called by his friends, was born on April 25, 1937, in Eads, Colorado.  It was there he won the heart of his loving wife, Marie, when she was only 14 years old (he was all of 15).  They were married in 1956 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June.  They were blessed with four daughters – Lynette, Cindy, Kathy, and Tracey who adored their dad and often reminded him how lucky he was to have had all daughters.

In 1975, Gordon and Marie moved from Littleton, CO to Alamosa with their four daughters. They quickly became great fans of the Mean Moose and spent countless hours in the bleachers, especially when their grandkids were in high school.  Gordon also loved to camp and fish and the Buck family spent many weekends camping and fishing in the beautiful mountains he loved.

Every Fall, Gordon went hunting and often filled the freezer with elk and deer meat.  He instilled that love of hunting in many of his family members.

Gordon was a master woodworker and spent hours and hours in his woodshop working on amazing projects that now fill the homes of his daughters as well as the home where he and Marie lived after his retirement in 1996.  His handiwork can even be found at one of his favorite places in the valley – Cattails Golf Club.  As soon as the weather allowed in the Spring, Gordon could be found golfing as much as possible and he loved it when the Fall weather allowed him to golf into November.

Gordon was preceded in death by his mom, Mary, and his dad, Frank.  He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Buck; his daughters, Lynette (Todd) Cotton, Cindy (Greg) Bervig, Kathy (Ken) Krieger, and Tracey Greeman; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was loved more than words can express and will be missed more than he could have ever imagined.

Cremation was chosen and Private Family Services will be held at a later date.
