Del Norte Town Board hires legal representation

Trustees take action in wake of Anzalone fighting censure

DEL NORTE — Del Norte Town Board met for a brief special meeting on Friday, Nov. 19, to hire legal representation to aid in the current litigation pertaining to the repeal of a censure that was placed on Del Norte Trustee Laura Anzalone in October.

The meeting was held via Zoom and officiated by Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Muncy, who was filling in for Mayor Chris Trujillo who did not participate in the meeting.

The motion to hire a law firm passed unanimously, 5-0. Trustee Anzalone was present in the meeting, but did not vote on the motion.

The board inquired whether or not they needed to find private, personal legal representation to which Town Attorney Gene Farish said it was necessary at this time.

The Town of Del Norte has been asked to remain quiet about the pending litigation and recent circumstances by legal counsel and has not discussed the details on the censure.

Trustee Anzalone has chosen to speak out about what happened and has since moved forward with litigation against the town for the censure that was placed on her at a meeting in October.

Anzalone has asked the board to remove the censure. Her formal request has been met with no comment and no action from town officials.

The next board meeting will be held on Dec. 8.
