Dennis appointed to State Centennial Commission

ALAMOSA —Alamosa County Administrator, Gigi Dennis has been named as an appointee to the Colorado State Women’s Vote Centennial Commission.

The official announcement came from the Governor’s Office on Sept. 10.

The duties of the Commission will include highlighting the contributions of women in Colorado’s history; providing educational opportunities through the State Department of Education and public libraries; creating a website to highlight all activities and planning for a celebration set for August 2020.

There will also be an effort in conjunction with History Colorado and the Center for Women’s History, to consider a plan for a monument, or other physical representation of key women of history.

Other appointees to the Commission include Angela Giron of Pueblo, Anna Haynes of Denver, Angela Paccione of Littleton, Polly Baca of Denver, Lucille Echohawk of Arvada, and Wilma J. Webb of Denver.

The terms of all appointees will expire on Jan. 3, 2021.
