MONTE VISTA — Diego Samuel Alarid, 81, of Albuquerque, NM went to his eternal rest on May 26, 2020. Born in Espanola, NM, he was the son of Samuel and Aurora (Rivera) Alarid and was baptized in the Catholic faith.

He attended Los Alamosa High School where he played basketball. Diego served in the U.S. Navy and was also a cancer survivor, which deepened his faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents who lived in Espanola, NM until their death; his daughter, Antonia Garcia, Monte Vista; his sister, Ramona Williams; nephew, Michael Marquez; brother-in-law, Louis Marquez; and several other extended family members.

Diego is survived by his sisters, Lydia Marquez and Ersilia Rael, Albuquerque; his children, Denise T. Ogden and husband, James, Allentown, PA; Joseph Alarid, Monte Vista; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives residing in Albuquerque, NM and the San Luis Valley.

Diego was humble and easy-going. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a fan of UNM Lobos and the Denver Broncos. He enjoyed reading, singing, listening to music, and telling jokes. The family would like to thank the management and residents of the AHEPA 501 apartments.
