ALAMOSA — Donald Edward Thompson, 87, went to his eternal rest on June 26, 2020, at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. Donald came into the world on July 18, 1932, the son of Frank Thompson and Lois Marie Cox Thompson. He worked for many years as a machinist and retired from Potlatch Corporation.
Donald was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going hunting and fishing, playing video games, going bowling, watching football and westerns. Donald was a huge John Wayne fan. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his daughter Mary S. Herring of Alamosa, CO; son Danny (Adelita) Thompson of Alamosa, CO.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lois Thompson, first Mary Virginia Underwood, daughter Donna Marie ThompsonMcClure, as well as many brothers and sisters. Viewing and visitation will be held for immediate family and friends on Wednesday from 1-3 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. Cremation will follow and services will be held at a later date.
