Drilling for data

The Rio Grande Water Conservation District in cooperation with the Colorado Division of Water Resources has contracted with local drilling company Heersink Drilling to construct/drill two groundwater monitoring wells in an area southwest of La Jara known generally as “Diamond Springs.” The monitoring wells are being drilled to enhance the understanding of the complex geology and hydrology of the area as well as provide continuous monitoring of groundwater levels going forward. This was a major issue in the trial held earlier this year regarding pending groundwater rules/regulations. The drill rig moved onto the site last week and drilling has commenced.
