La Jara resident Duane Thomas Lopez, 63, passed away April 14, 2018. Duane was welcomed into the world on June 14, 1954 in Alamosa , Colorado, the son of Jose Gilbert Lopez and Rosemary Ortiz Lopez. Duane was a kind and loving person, who never came across a stranger. He was a friend to everyone. Duane was an exceptional brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed playing guitar, playing pool, going to bingo, reading and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sister Eileen (Andrew) Martinez of La Jara, CO; brothers Juvie Lopez, Gilbert (Sally) Lopez both of La Jara, CO. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents J. Gilbert and Rosemary Lopez.
