Edward Mortensen

Edward Mortensen, 77, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, in Albuquerque, N.M.

Ed was born on Aug. 28, 1945, in Alamosa, Colo., to Hillard and Wynona Mortensen. He attended Sanford High School and graduated in 1963. After high school, Ed attended and graduated from beauty school and then started a family. He ended up working in the logwoods for several years and really enjoyed it.

Ed loved being in the mountains, getting wood, fishing, hunting or just driving around. After he stopped working in the logwoods he and his family moved to Colorado for a spell where he worked with his dad. They then moved back to New Mexico where he began his drywall business. Many folks said that he was the best drywaller in the state.

Ed is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathie, his children, Robin Hamilton (Glendale, Ariz.), Scott Mortensen (Bernalillo, N.M.), Jeff (Tawnya) Mortensen, (Bernalillo, N.M.), and stepchildren Scott (Pam) Zimmer, and Paula (Michael) Wiltgen, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Judy (Tonapah Nev.), Barbara (Calhan, Colo.), Shelley (Sanford, Colo.), Holly (Randy) (Cedar Edge, Colo.), Wynell (Hooper, Colo.) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hillard and Wynona Mortensen, brothers Lonnie Mortensen, Randy Mortensen and Bill Mortensen and daughter-in-law, Kristi Mortensen.

Ed will be missed very much by his family and friends, but we are all grateful that he is now out of pain and is able to raise a little hell in heaven with his brothers and his best friend Gub.
