Longtime Chama resident Eileen “Queen K” Vialpando, 80, was called home on Aug. 24, 2023. She passed away at the Evergreen nursing home after a debilitating battle with dementia. Born on April 11, 1943, the beloved daughter of Celestino Sanchez and Edicia Vialpando-Sanchez.

Eileen devoted her life to caring for her elderly family and her pets. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and loved Looney Tunes characters. In her free time, she enjoyed cruising around town and picking Pinon.

 She was enthusiastic about her Valley Music and devotion to our Blessed Mother. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. She loved spending time with all her family and friends.

She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Chama, Colo.

Her memory will live on through her family members and friends.

Service with Recitation of the Rosary in English will be held on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chama, Colo. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 12 p.m. also at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be held at the Chama Cemetery.
