John Green: The Me Zone

A night of stories, songs, and poetry.

Recent winner of The Guild Complex Prose Award, The Me Zone is a playful exploration of the frustration we all share that life is not “all about me!” John will share the stage with Creede poets and musicians.

The Me Zone will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Sunnyside Chapel. This event is pay what you can at the door. Rating PG-13.

Guadalupe in the Guest Room

Guadalupe has lost a daughter, Steve has lost a wife, and neither of them can find enough common ground to talk about it. Coupled with the fact that neither of them can speak the other’s language, they find a new way to connect: through an unlikely love of Telenovela—the wildly popular Latin American soap opera. How can such different people come together and take a step toward healing? Guadalupe offers a profound look into the complexities of language, grief, loneliness, love, laughter, and new beginnings.

Guadalupe takes place in our state of the art Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre. This truly unique show will take you on an emotional journey that you will never forget. Travel from a living room, to a beach, to a nunnery, and more through this captivating story of learning to grieve, and love, with those who are different than you.

Miss Holmes

An anonymous note, a fearful wife, and a pair of curious shoes? Sounds like a perfect case Holmes and Watson. Ah but there’s a twist: Miss Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Dorothy Watson sleuth their way through the twists and turns of this classic mystery. The Chicago Tribune calls it “a cunning and highly enjoyable gender-bent take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s maddeningly brilliant detective.” If you fancied Around the World in 80 Days, you’ll love the lightning-quick pace and skillful character swaps of Miss Holmes. The game’s afoot!

Miss Holmes takes place in our historic Mainstage Theatre. This show has everything you love about Sherlock Holmes and more! Full of laughs, surprises, twists, and turns, Miss Holmes is sure to please anyone who comes in the door!

Boomtown

Twelve is the age when almost-teenagers get impatient for their upcoming transition to semi-adulthood. When they get to stay home after school alone. Little do they know their parents tremble in their beds at night, dreaming of a world where children do their own laundry and don’t complain about the reheated burger for dinner because sometimes mom just WANTS SOME TIME TO HERSELF. Ahem. Anyway, you know what all this means. Boomtown Improv is back. We’re twelve. And we’re unsupervised. Bring the popcorn.

Boomtown is back for its 12th Season and as lively as ever! It’s held in our Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre Saturdays at 10 p.m. One jam-packed hour of comedy gold, completely made up for you every week! Tickets are only $10 and we’ve got beer, wine, soda, and popcorn to spare!

• Saturday, September 1st at 10 p.m.
