Edna was born on August 23, 1944 daughter of Henry and Anna (Segura) Trujillo.  She was a proud lifelong resident of the San Luis Valley, leaving only for short times to Colorado Springs and Albuquerque.

Edna married Damacio Romero in 1964.  She was blessed with her children Georgiana and Henry and a supportive and loving extended family.

On December 19th, 1970 Edna married Eugene Velasquez.  Together Gene and Edna raised their family in the Sargent area, adding their youngest son Jonathan.  They were proud supporters of the Sargent School District where Edna was employed for 32 years.  She was famous for her cooking and will be endearingly remembered for “Edna’s Super Chile”, tortillas and bischochitos.  She was a faithful and active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Edna loved her family well.  She enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends frequently.  She also took several trips with the Church, seeing places like Rome, Italy and Medjugorje, Bosnia.  Her life was a testimony of great faith in God.  She loved music, dancing and celebrating.

Survivors include her daughter, two sons and their spouses; Georgiana & Paul Contreras of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Henry & Pam Romero of Boynton Beach, Florida; and Jonathan & Leslie Velasquez of Ruckersville, Virginia.  Edna loved her six grandchildren dearly, Latoshia Contreras of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Joshua Contreras of San Diego, California; Jenna and Luke Velasquez; and Calloway and Camden Romero. Surviving siblings are Maxine (Martin) Sanchez, of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Betty Madrid of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.
