Eva Lucia Lobato

CENTER - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our mother, Eva Lucia Lobato. Eva passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2020, at the home of her daughter Kathy (Ed) Kulp due to complications from cancer. Eva was born on October 19, 1937, in Del Norte, Colorado and was the daughter of Agatha Mary and Jose Elias Silva. She is survived by two sisters, Irene Maestas and Patsy Sand of Denver, Colorado. Her children are John (Kathy) Lobato, Anthony (Denise) Lobato, David (Mary Lee) Lobato, Kathy (Ed) Kulp, Barbara (Frank) Biondolillo and Michael (Jody) Lobato. Eva had fourteen grandchildren, Joshua and Blake Lobato, Taylor (Vince) Szilagyi and Alexa Lobato, Grace and Mary Theresa Lobato, Daniel Kulp, Sarah (Estevan) Alonzo, Jesse (Lindsay) Kulp, Anna Kulp, Aaron (Kari) Biondolillo, Stephen (Carrie) Biondolillo, Nicholas and Jordan Lobato.  She also had four great-grandchildren, Roman, Amelia, Emma, and Ivy Alonzo.

Mom was raised and went to high school in Del Norte, Colorado and married Frank B. Lobato on the 9th of June 1955.  Our family lived and worked on the Adobe Ranch north of Center.

It is only now, at this time, that one realizes what a rock Eva was and how important she was in our lives. In addition to the volume of work involved on the ranch, raising and processing broilers, hogs, and lambs, as well as organizing the annual branding and other ranch events, Eva raised six children, five of whom were born just one year apart, all in December.  As difficult as that was, it was probably easier than when we were all in high school and she had to juggle band trips, sporting events, 4-H, academic activities, and dealing with six teenagers.  She was loved and will be sorely missed.

A private Mass was held for Eva in July and she was buried at the La Garita Cemetery in La Garita, Colorado.
