Antonito resident Eva S. Garcia, 95, died on April 26, 2017 at the Rio Grande Inn. Eva was born on July 31,1921, in Del Norte, Colorado; the daughter of Antonio J. Salazar and Cirila Montoya Salazar. Eva devoted her life to caring for her children and husband. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, taking care of her pets and flowers.

Survivors include her son Dr. Salomon (Rhonda) Garcia of Centennial, CO; daughter Maria (Arthur) Garcia-Aaronson of Boston, MA; grandchildren Ryan Basil of Boulder, CO; Adam Garcia of Centennial, CO; Jonathan (Liz) Garcia of Aurora, CO; and Anna Garcia of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband Gilberto Garcia and daughter Patricia Ann Garcia.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Ortiz Cemetery . The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
