Extension granted for Motorway ideas

ALAMOSA — Alamosa County Marketing District Board members on Thursday voted to extend until September 30 a request for proposals for the motorway building.

To give a fair chance to anyone interested in developing the long-vacant building, the board had requested proposals by June 14. However, no proposals were received by that date, Alamosa Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Kale Mortensen said.

He told the board that after the June deadline, however, he received an email requesting an extension from an interested party. Since then at least one other party has expressed interest in the building, he added.

He said at this point there was no rush to accept proposals, so he recommended an extension of at least a month, if the board wanted to accept further requests for proposals (RFP).

Board President Rob Oringdulph was in favor of extending the RFP as long as necessary and as long as there might be someone interested in presenting a proposal to the board. He said he wanted to make sure the word got out that the RFP period had been extended so anyone who was interested in pitching an idea for the building could do so.

The board decided to extend the deadline until September 30. See www.alamosa.org/about-the-cvb-a-industry-partners
